reviving the still life
In the series Reviving Still Life, Łukasz Prus-Niewiadomski sets up display cases with dried little creatures, leaves, and twigs. He points to our human need to stay connected with nature—a need that today often leads to making grotesque substitutes for it. Nature both fascinates and frightens us. We want to control it, tame it, and lock it into a form that feels safe and convenient for us. This leads to new fixations: obsessively collecting and classifying trophies (which can also include the photographs themselves).
